Feeling blue (and white)

Last week I told you about my extra visits to the thrift shops and antique stores, in search of the perfect midcentury credenza/dresser (at the perfect price, of course). I still haven’t found it... but I did find this.

I am seriously all about blue nowadays, aren’t I? And this post from Emily A. Clark made me want something blue and white so hard. Check out her grouping on top of her piano! Adore.

I’ve been on the lookout for classic blue and white accessories since I saw that post and decided to straight-up steal Emily’s awesome style. So when I spotted this “vase” – actually a biscotti jar? – at Goodwill, I snatched it up right away.

It has that little chip on the lid, but I looked past that because the price was oh-so-right.

When the clerk rang it up, she said, “Whoa, that’s a really good price for that.” I know, friend, I know. And I was the lucky person to grab it two days after it showed up in the store (see the date on the price tag?).

It’s not the fanciest vase ever – as evidence by the random light yellow spots all over it (faded part of the original pattern? no idea). But there are little cracks in the ceramic that make it feel at least a little vintage.

Despite apparently being a vessel for biscotti storage, I’m keeping it in the living room for now, with its original purpose (and the chip in the lid) turned toward the wall.

But someday it can go in a grouping like Emily’s... if I get lucky at the thrift shops another time or two!
