What I wore: the bee's knees

It’s been less than a week, so it’s not too late to show you this, right?

Pretend flapper dress: Marshall’s, a few years ago, purchased on sale despite being a size or two too big
Feathered headband: Party City, purchased earlier this year to wear to the Gatsby movie
Necklaces: “spirit beads” last seen during Mr. P’s football homecoming
Chandelier earrings (easier to see here): H&M
Boa: actually a fringe-y scarf, a gift from my stepsister last Christmas
Cigarette + holder: crafted out of rolled-up black cardstock and white paper
“Absinthe”: created from the greenest bottle of wine at Target, black cardstock, and a gold paint pen to freehand the label

I solo’d it up at a Halloween party last Saturday (Mr. P had a tournament with his students) and, if I may be honest, it was the first time I’ve dressed up for Halloween in years. Because I felt rusty, I decided to cheat and borrow the same “costume” I wore over the summer to the Gatsby movie. I felt lazy and uncreative, but the only other costume I really liked was “Scout from To Kill a Mockingbird as Ham” and I just didn't have time to deal with chicken wire this year.

But in the end, I think I needed the second go-round because it turned out WAY better this time. My accessories were way better, I finally figured out how to fake-bob my hair, and everyone loves a good fake bottle of absinthe. Halloween achieved!

oh my goodness, I love the "ham" costume! I just finished reading TKAM, for the billionth time. Chicken wire, ha. That'd be interesting, for sure. Love your costume. If you can't be Scout, you had the next best idea. Way to rock it, too!

Daisy Buchanan personified! Hate that your Gatsby had to miss out - but maybe next year and next and as long as the tux holds out, you are fixed! :-)
