What I wore: in the Valentine’s spirit

It’s been forever since my last What I Wore post – okay, not forever, but October, to be exact. As I mentioned at some point, I started phasing out those posts when I realized I didn’t need the blog to motivate me to dress like a grownup. It’s worked wonders, you guys. Seriously, if you’re the sort of person who hates not following through in front of an audience, start a blog. Suddenly, you’re meeting all your goals.

But although I’ve completely eschewed t-shirts and jeans, lately I’ve been trying to be a bit more... well... trendy. And to continue to make more risky (for me) fashion choices. Ok, fine: I need to avoid wearing a black dress every single day. And two trendy pieces I really really wanted was a polka-dot shirt and a pair of burgundy pants.

So here, in honor of the pink-and-red-tinted festivities later this week, I present: RED PANTS Y’ALL!

Burgundy pants: These from H&M (please note if you order these that I normally wear a size 2-4 in other brands, but for these I needed a size 10)
Navy polka-dot shirt: Also a recent H&M purchase (a size 6, which is too big... go figure)
Owl locket necklace: a gift from my mother, better seen here
Boots: Franco Sarto from Marshall’s

I knotted the shirt in front to be a little less flowy, and wore this with neutral heels to church when it was above freezing for approximately three hours (which were way cuter).

So yes. Red pants. And polka dots! Black dresses are easy and professional and all, but this is way more fun.

Love this outfit. I like the boots too. You look great in polka dots, black dresses OR T-shirts!
