Viaggo Italiano, day 2

Given that Lecce has a gorgeous, historic church on practically every block, I really struggled trying to pick a photo to sum up all of them. I’m not sure this one does completely, but it’s close.

Lecce is covered in beautiful carvings. On the buildings, in the buildings, around the buildings. This is but one example of many niches lining the walls of one of the churches (note the gate for scale). My goodness, it’s breathtaking.

The word that comes to mind is "ornate" when looking at the designs in this church. Can NOT imagine what it must look like around the city. Mind blown, when I stop to think about the HOURS of time spent working on these structures.
